Amanda Bynes Turns 21!

Happy happy, m’dear! Your Uncle Grambo would like to wish the Patron Saint of whatevs (dot org), Miss Amanda Bynes, all the best as she celebrates her 21st BOVSday. Although the volume of my writings regarding the lovely and talented Miss Bynes have waned of late, let me assure you that it’s not because I heart her any less. Rather, it’s because she has been keeping a reeeal lo pro of late. Aside from a December appearnance on Carson Daly and this “Hairspray” preview on MTV Overdrive, all’s been quiet on the Bynes front. Some say TOO quiet. But not me.

You see, one of the major reasons that Amanda Bynes continues to appeal to your Uncle Grambo after all these years is precisely because she HASN’T fallen prey to the kind of vices that so many of the other Teen Queens featured on that legendary Vanity Fair cover have. She’s never whored her personal life out to the starfucking food chain of `razzi snappers and glossy editors (see: ALL of the above, save maybe Raven). She’s never dated tattooed freakshow musicians-slash-deejays with questionable talent (see: Duff, LiLo, Mandy Moore, Evan Rachel Wood). And no, no, NO, she’s never put herself in the kind of situations that have landed so many of her peers in rehab (see: LiLo, Mary-Kate). Instead, her focus, dedication and professionalism have resulted in her landing plum roles (see “Hairspray”) and making mad bank (earning $2.5 million in 2006 landed her fifth place on Forbes Magazine’s list of Young Hollywood’s Top Earners). How’s that for buzz?

Bynes. Some say the total package. Happy birthday, baby!

UG,
as this event has brought the whatevs.org experience full circle for me, i’m tempted to make this the last post i ever read here. maybe we all need to grow up and be mature, responsible and take work itself a little more seriously, just like Amanda.
maybe not,

Grambo-
Mega-ditto’s on pretty much everything Bynes related, but please don’t throw my ALEXIS BLEDEL under the bus. She has kept it very Bynes-esque with her career, and hasn’t balooned Raven-style.
